About Us

The Worshipful Company of Educators is one of the newer livery companies in the City of London, established to raise awareness of, and to promote, the education profession, and to uphold its standards of excellence and integrity.

The Worshipful Company of Educators was granted formal status as a City of London livery company in 2013, receiving its Grant of Arms on the 7th December 2013 and its Royal Charter on the 11th October 2017. This charter officially recognised its existence as a livery company in the tradition of other ancient guilds and livery companies of London.

The company’s establishment was driven by a desire to promote education and support educators in their efforts to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the United Kingdom. The Worshipful Company of Educators aimed to bring together individuals from various sectors of education, including schools, colleges, universities, and training institutions, as well as those with a broader interest in education.

The companies members, known as Freemen and Liverymen, come from diverse educational backgrounds and are committed to the advancement of education.

Charitable activity is at the heart of the values of the Worshipful Company of Educators. Our independent charity, the Educators’ Trust, is dedicated to the support of the profession of educator. It recognises outstanding contributions by individuals through awards and supports professional development through bursaries.

The Worshipful Company of Educators continues to evolve and expand its role within the educational community, fostering connections and partnerships with educational institutions and organisations to promote educational excellence and innovation.
